Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Achieves Deficiency-Free Score in State Survey

Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center announced today that it has achieved a deficiency-free score in its most recent survey by the Department of Public Health (DPH), a rare occurrence for any skilled nursing facility.

DPH routinely conducts unannounced inspections – called surveys – of all licensed nursing homes in Massachusetts.  This comprehensive, multi-day review examines all aspects of care such as staffing levels, quality of care, cleanliness, food, and residents’ rights.  Only 4% of nursing homes in Massachusetts had zero deficiencies in 2024.

“This survey result tells our residents, their families, and the public that Briarwood is meeting the highest standards in every area,” said Nick Baker, administrator at Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.  “Our clinical team, caregivers and support staff deserve praise for making Briarwood a place where quality and compassion go hand in hand.”

The deficiency-free result comes at a time when Briarwood is undergoing extensive renovations, including the construction of a new rehabilitation gym and modernized resident rooms across its short-term and long-term care units.
