Briarwood’s “Share The Vision” Event: A Full Success!!

At this event, where we announced the Vision of our center, we asked our residents, families, and staff to share their vision for Briarwood, and we in turn took those visions and integrated them them in a time capsule beneath our “Vision Tree”. We planted our “Vision Tree” the night of the event.

Even more noteworthy was at this event we recognized Sam Cornell, a young Needham boy who attends the Tobin school and had the opportunity to visit Briarwood this past school year with his first grade class. At that time, he met an older lady who made an impression on him. When I received a call from his mother 2 weeks ago, she shared that her son Sam had been raising money and wanted to donate it to Briarwood. He felt such a strong connection here and wanted to “help the people that needed medicine”.

This little boy Sam has a heart of gold and we wanted to recognize him for his generous donation and gesture. At our event we gave Sam an ICare employee of the week certificate, along with a wristband, pin and other Briarwood paraphernalia. This is what we give to our staff members who receive recognition for excellent customer service efforts with our residents. Sam helped us pitch the first shovel of mulch into our newly planted tree and was the hit of the event. He really is a special young man and we know he will be back to visit with us soon.

Warm And Welcoming … And Deficiency Free!

Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, recently underlined its reputation for excellence achieving Deficiency-Free results for two consecutive years, in the yearly Survey conducted by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Unannounced annual visits to healthcare facilities to evaluate the facilities’ compliance with State and Federal regulations ensure this rigorous survey examines various aspects of quality, safety and overall performance. This includes medication management, proper skin care, food service, environmental safety, and respect for patients’ rights and dignity.

In close proximity – only a few hundred feet away – from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, Briarwood provides specialized services that include Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Care, Complex Medical Management as well as Alzheimer’s and Dementia care. The Center recently underwent expansive renovations to transform into a beautiful state-of-the art setting.

Featuring an expansive new therapy gym and a stellar multidisciplinary team, Briarwood caters to the needs of short-rehab patients and boasts a lower-than-national-average rate of patient re-hospitalization, consistently embracing and superseding all ACO criteria to assure the highest level of resident care.

“The results of this Survey ”, says Jenny Baldassarre, administrator at Briarwood “truly reflect the superior quality of care we provide, as well as the consistency in our staff’s commitment and dedication. It takes team work at every level to achieve a single Zero Deficiency status – especially two years in a row!”

Successful at keeping down its rate of patient re-hospitalization and boasting a 5 Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Briarwood exceeds ALL other facility averages in the Needham area and has now enhanced its warm and welcoming reputation by achieving deficiency free results for two consecutive years.

For more information about Briarwood’s Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, or to schedule a tour of the Center, please call Jenny Baldassarre at 781-449-4040.
